A big one.And it might be Suzanne — in more ways than he ever dreamed.* * *Shopping for an Heir is the 10th book in the New York Times bestselling Shopping for a Billionaire series by Julia Kent.

Shopping for an Heir is the 10th book in her Shopping series.  Gerald Wright has been the security/chauffeur for the McCormick’s, and he shows the sensitive side he has through sculpting and his art classes.  He is the benefactor of an artifact that he helped smuggle into the country years ago to keep safe.  Suzanne Dayton is Gerald’s ex who he broke things off with 10 years ago and hasn’t seen since.  She is now a lawyer that is charge of making sure that the instructions with the inheritance has been carried out.  For the both of them, the past and the present collide, as they realize those sparks have never stopped between them.

I absolutely love this series.  The cast of characters are wonderfully flawed and never to fail with the hilarity of situations they find themselves in. Though we don’t deal with the main characters of the Shopping Series, they do make appearances along with Marie and newbie Agnes who proves herself just as feisty as the other characters.  Julia interweaves both seriousness and comedy in this book with the discussion of PTSD that Gerald has gone through from his days in service.  I love how she brings it to attention without making it too heavy or weighted down. I give this book 4 1/2 stars.  I loved how seamlessly the story flowed and introducing new and old characters of the series wasn’t that far of a stretch.

If you love a slew of great characters and situations that you wonder can happen in real life, then the Shopping series is for you.  I love the expansion into the series with Gerald and Suzanne’s story, and can’t wait for the next book in the series.

He leaned in, kissing her softly. Smoochy stirred, sat up, and toddled off, jumping off a very distracted Gerald’s lap.

“Let’s take this,” she said, breathless between kisses, “one step at a time.”

“Define ‘step.’”

“Spend the night with me.”

“I like that step.”

“Make me breakfast in the morning.”

“Is that step two?”

“Sure.”

“I always respond well to a clearly defined set of procedures.”

“How about a map?”

“Even better.”

Neither one moved. The offer, once accepted, was almost enough. Acting on it felt so big. So was he, though. As she crawled into his lap, connected to him by their eager mouths, she pulled her skirt up so she could straddle him, his arms wrapping around her waist. The heat of sinking into him, the intimacy of having his body so close, made her mind rest.

Her body took over.

“You taste so good,” he murmured between kisses, his hands sliding up her spine in tandem, then moving across her shoulders in synchronized perfection to remove her suit jacket. The shiver she gave came less from the temperature change and more from the delicious feel of how he touched her. With Gerald, a touch wasn’t just the stroke of a finger, the brush of a palm, the flick of a tongue, or the thrust into her. Never one to waste movement, he reveled in it, living fully in dimensions she couldn’t even see.

He pulled her shirt out from her waistband just as she returned the favor, seeking the raw warmth of his skin. Her hands flattened against his thick shoulders, the connection grounding, her body moving in a slow, involuntary rhythm against him as he kissed her hard.

So hard.

As he cupped her breasts over her bra, her nipples tightened, the ache spinning down in a spiral, tearing through years of pain and craving. Her breath hitched and his kiss became more urgent, his intent clear. It was so good to kiss a man who knew how to hold her just so, who used a feather light touch where she wanted it, and who pressed where a tighter squeeze made a difference.

Gerald had been joyfully unrestrained in bed, hours of pleasure unending, as if there were no events marking time— no final orgasm, no steps in a schematic— but only the undefined fuzzy logic of imperfect art played out in moans and sighs, in the light stroke of a fingertip against responsive flesh, in the wave of tongue against arched hips and the push and pull of love cried out in ecstasy.

In minutes, they would be back in that dimension. S

he shivered with anticipation.

“What are we doing?” she whispered, the tone playful, his hands sinking into her long waves.

“Whatever it is, it’s been a while,” he rasped. “I’ve missed you. I’ve missed this.”

Behind Closed Doors by J.L. Berg Blog Tour Review

Behind Closed Doors by J.L. Berg Blog Tour Review
My name is Roman Cavenaugh and I’m kind of an asshole.
Running a company isn't easy, especially when everyone expects you to fail, so being a jerk? It comes with the territory.
I don't have time to mess around, and I sure as hell didn’t see her coming.
Cara Hamilton—she was supposed to be off limits…a temporary employee brought in during my assistant’s maternity leave.
But, in the blink of an eye, she became so much more.
An obsession I couldn’t shake.

So yeah, I may be an asshole, but now, I finally had a purpose, and soon, she would be mine.
All’s fair in love and war…

Roman Cavanagh is known for being an arrogant conceited jerk.  But he’s had to prove himself his whole life to his father, now taking over the company that he was never even considered to do. He is brother to Jude who was in J.L. Berg’s previous books Within and Beyond These Walls.  This is a complete standalone and you don’t need to read those previous books.

Cara Hamilton is trying to find her footing after following her boyfriend to NYC.  She accepts a temporary position as Roman’s secretary, as his regular one is out on maternity leave.  She is a free spirit and is someone who actually stands up to Roman when he is acting like an arrogant jerk.  Slowly she works past the walls that Roman has erected to protect himself and they find themselves in a boss/employee friendship.  Through this friendship, Cara’s eyes are open to her partner’s true colors.  Soon lines are blurred and the consequences of those actions have to be faced by both.

This isn’t the typical guy meets girl, or girl meets guy, falls in love and have their HEA.  This is a story that both Roman and Cara delve deeper into themselves and see parts they don’t like and work to change that for the better.  When they realize their feelings run deeper than just boss/employee or even friendship, they fight to show the other that they are the one they are meant to be with.  I am being vague because there is a twist in BCD that you have to read to find out yourself, so there will be no spoilers here.

I love J.L. Berg and have since I first read When You’re Ready.  She has a way of getting into your head and pulling at the emotions that you didn’t even know that they were there. Or she taps into an emotion that you don’t want to confront but you have no choice but to confront.  I love that about her and this is a perfect book to start with if you have never read her before and then move onto her other series.

I give it 4 ½ stars, I really wanted to give it 5 but sometimes with Roman I was put off more often than not with his behavior.  But this is a book that will stay with me and I will reread at some point, and I think it will be the same for you if you decide to give this book a go.

ABOUT CLAIMING THE ENEMY

Piper Dawson has spent a lifetime living by other people’s rules.

She’s worked hard to get what she wants—a residency at her first choice hospital—and no one will ever tie her down again, not even her severe yet incredibly sexy supervisor, Dr. Alexander “Ace” Lennox.

Ace is done with love. He’s had his heart shattered, and he never wants to go there again. But when he’s inexplicably enticed by the sexy, tattooed woman with blue streaks in her hair and a perpetual smile on her lips, he figures that maybe he can keep it to just sex.

The problem? He thrives on control, and Piper dances just around the edges of it.

But when they’re together, control is the first thing to go…

Each book in the Pulse series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

EXCERPT:

“Are you just teasing me? Going to poke fun at me tomorrow for being all over you?”

Ace just stared at her for a moment—she was pretty sure she’d shocked him, but she had no idea why. Finally, a dark laugh escaped his throat, and those granite eyes locked with her own.

“I find this situation anything but amusing.” He closed the distance until there was nothing more than a slender ribbon of space between them. “I don’t get tempted…ever. And yet, ever since you kissed me today, all I can think about is what you’d look like with your legs wrapped around my neck.”

He did not just say that.

“Jesus, Ace.” Piper’s mouth went dry, and she ran the tip of her tongue over her lower lip. His eyes tracked the movement intently, and she felt a surge of moisture between her legs. “How the hell are we supposed to work together tomorrow?”

“No idea.” Sucking in a deep breath, he pressed his forehead to hers. “All I know is that I want you.”

Against every shred of good sense that she possessed, Piper felt her knees weaken. That wasn’t fair. Saying things like that while he stood there looking all smoldering and delicious—how was she supposed to put up a fair fight?

Danger, danger.

“I…” Closing her eyes, Piper stretched out a hand for the last shreds of self-control in her arsenal. “It’s a bad idea. A really, really bad idea.”

I can’t give in. I won’t.

“It’s a horrible idea,” Ace agreed, and when she opened her eyes the feral glint in his eyes had her pulse stuttering. “But right now, when I can see your pulse beating at the skin of your throat? When I can see the flush on your skin and know that it’s because of me? I don’t care.”

“Ace.” Piper’s voice was weak. “If we do this, it will be really hard to go back to what we usually are.”

“And what are we, usually?” Ace’s voice held no trace of the humor she’d expect during this absolutely bizarre conversation. No, he was completely serious.

Serious about seducing her.

“Pains in each other’s asses.”

Claiming the Enemy is the first book I read by Lauren Hawkeye. It is the third book in her Pulse series.  The synopsis was really good and I love an enemies to lovers story.  But while this did have amazing sexual chemistry and scenes, I felt the interaction between the two really fell short.

We find Riley at the local bar drinking the day away after a hard shift at the hospital that she is a Dr.  There she runs into an ex, and upon seeing Dr. Ace Lennox, she uses him to ward off the attention of her ex.  But then the tables are turned when Ace, needing help from his meddling mother, gives the impression of a relationship between the two.

They agree to the premise of a no strings relationship because really neither wants to be tied down again.  For Ace, he doesn’t want to open up to the heartache of loss again after his wife died a few years before.  And for Riley, she simply doesn’t want the connection and the complications that go along with a relationship especially when it goes bad.  The sexual scenes are hot and do not disappoint.

However, there could be more desired from the interactions between Ace and Riley.  They rarely talked about anything except what a bad idea it was to get involved because they are scared the other will want more despite them wanting more from that person.  They didn’t talk about their past, or even see how they were enemies in the first place.  The last chapter had the most feeling and conversation between them than the whole book except when they were having sex.

I really wanted to love the book but I can only give it 3 ½ stars.  I would have given it more if there was more character development with Ace and Riley. But like I said I don’t discount the sexual chemistry between the two, it was very palpable and I looked forward to when they got together.  Despite my rating, do give this book a chance, you may have a different opinion of this book.

About Lauren Hawkeye

Lauren Hawkeye/ Lauren Jameson never imagined that she’d wind up telling stories for a living… though when she looks back, it’s easy to see that she’s the only one who is surprised. Always “the kid who read all the time”, Lauren made up stories about her favorite characters once she’d finished a book… and once spent an entire year narrating her own life internally. No, really. But where she was just plain odd before publication, now she can at least claim to have an artistic temperament.

Lauren lives in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Canada with her husband, toddler, pit bull and idiot cat, though they do not live in an igloo, nor do they drive a dogsled. In her nonexistent spare time Lauren can be found knitting (her husband claims that her snobby yarn collection is exorbitant), reading anything she can get her hands on, or sweating her way through spin class. She loves to hear from her readers!

Wide Open Spaces by Aurora Rose Reynolds Review

Wide Open Spaces by Aurora Rose Reynolds Review
That moment your life changes.

That moment that changes your life.

That moment you love someone more than you love yourself.

That was the moment we gave our son up for adoption and the moment I was left bare. A wide-open space that would forever be empty.

There are moments that define you as a person, moments that prove just how strong you are, moments you push yourself to keep going forward when all you really want to do is give up. It was in one of those moments when I reached out and found him waiting for me.

When Shelby Calder left home fifteen years ago, she never planned on returning to the Alaskan town she left behind. But after the death of her grandfather and a bitter divorce, she hopes going home will be a fresh start for her and her ten-year-old son.

Zach Watters has made a lot of mistakes in his life. But when he sees Shelby Calder, looking more beautiful than ever, standing outside her childhood home, he promises himself that letting her go won't be a mistake he ever makes again.

Some things never change and love is one of them.
Goodreads

Wide Open Spaces is the second book in her Shooting Stars series.  You don’t have to read the first one to be able to read Wide Open Spaces.  I’ve read Fighting to Breathe, the first book, and honestly couldn’t wait for this book to be released.

Shelby left her home fifteen years determined to never return. But a turn of events, her divorce and her grandfather’s passing, has her returning home and facing the reasons she left in the first place.  One of those reasons was Zach, and on her first day home learns that he is her next door neighbor.  Over the past fifteen years, Zach has not forgotten Shelby nor the love that he has for her. Now that she is back, he is not letting her slip through his fingers again.

It is not an easy feat for Shelby to take that chance again.  Years ago, both her and Zach had to make a torturous decision and she is still feeling the after effects, and isn’t sure she can open her heart to Zach again the way he wants her to.  Add in ex’s who make things difficult on both ends, you wonder if they are truly meant to be.  But as Zach and Shelby deal with the repercussions of their decision, they find that they are truly healing themselves and each other.  That empty void both Zach and Shelby have is filled by their love for each other.

I was glad that I kept tissues nearby because a few times I had to stop because tears were freely falling.  Aurora wrote a beautiful second chance love story that deals with something that many people face in society.  She truly pulls at your heartstrings and you wonder just how much love you have in your heart for the people in and not in your life.  It is a second chance romance in many ways, along with redemption and acceptance.  I give this book 5 stars because even after I read it, it stayed with me for several days and is easily on my list of rereads.  I have read all of Aurora’s books and I think with the material written about, this is the best she released.  I can’t wait to see what more we can expect from her.

Bad Judgement by Meghan March Book Review

A sexy enemies-to-lovers STANDALONE romance from USA Today bestselling author Meghan March. He’s arrogant. She’s self-righteous.I hate him.I want her.I’ve been turning him down for two years straight.Every shut-down makes me work harder.I’m not a one-night stand kind of girl. She doesn’t realize I won’t settle for only one night. He’s a distraction I don’t need. She’ll say yes eventually because I’m not giving up.***“My final ruling is that Bad Judgment is Meghan March’s best work yet.”—USA Today bestselling author T.M. Frazier"We absolutely couldn't get enough of this fresh storyline, the insanely combustible steam and a gripping ending you will NOT see coming!" —The Rockstars of Romance“Meghan March’s writing is so addictive. From the very first page she sucks you in, and that’s exactly what happened with Bad Judgment. It was sexy, angsty, and consuming. Another fantastic read from Meghan. PS, thanks for keeping me up late at night.” —Author Meghan Quinn
Goodreads

If you haven’t read a book by Meghan March by now, then Bad Judgement is an excellent choice as it is standalone romance.

Justine Foster is in her final year of law school and just learned that her scholarship is not being renewed for the last year. Her only options come in the form of stripping or tutoring Ryker Grant, the guy who has been asking her out for the last 2 years. While one seems to definitely be a bad judgement call, you don’t know all the facts yet that go into the deal with Ryker to say which one is worse.

I loved the interaction between Justine and Ryker from the start. She wasn’t one to put up with his bull****, and often times called him on it. While Ryker first wanted to get with her cause of her looks, soon he realizes there is more to her than just looks.

Everything though isn’t as it seems when it comes to their relationship. There are things they are both keeping from each other, that can destroy everything before it gets off the ground. What choices do they make lead to bad judgement that can spell disaster for their lives and careers? And once the decision is made, is it enough to make up for that bad judgement call?

The twists that Meghan is known for in her books are present here literally up to the last couple chapters, and I love that in this story. You are kept in the dark on what is going to come and once it’s brought to light, it’s not something you would have thought of, at least not at first. That is one thing that keeps having me come back and back to her books. I also love the panty-melting inducing love scenes between Justine and Ryker. You could feel the sexual tension way before their first time and it only gets stronger from there.

This is a great book all the way around, and especially if you’ve never read Meghan March before, I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants real characters that want to do the right thing even when bad judgements and decisions happen, like it does to any of us.

Mr Corporate by JA Huss Book Review
Weston Conrad is the best headhunter in the business. That handsome smile goes a long way towards convincing most people to trust him with their future.
I’m not most people. I’m his direct competition. And it doesn’t hurt to be just the kind of woman he’s been looking for.
I’m gonna flash you these legs, Weston Conrad.
I’m gonna wear low-cut shirts and micro-mini skirts.
I’m gonna dazzle you with wit and conversation and kiss those lips like they’re exactly what I’ve been waiting for.
So don’t hate me when you figure out my secret.

I’m in love with this series by Julie, just like all her books. She has this thing for writing a standalone and it having it’s own story, but then have that standalone be part of a series with an overall story arc to it. Julie is doing it again with her Mister (Mr.) series.

The story takes place on a deserted island in the exotic Exuma Cays. Look at this yumminess. Nice place to be deserted, right? Let’s just take a moment and have a mini vacation right now…..

Okay. Back to business. Victoria and Weston have been sent to the island via a wild goose chase. They are both sent to head hunt the same guy, and he is supposed to be on his island, but he’s not. After they seen a massive storm brewing and acknowledge that their pilot isn’t coming back for them, they are forced to face reality. The reality is their relationship, their businesses and their life in general.

“Mr. and Mrs. Corporate. It’s just business, Mister style.”

I’m not sure what to ever say in a review. You don’t want me to wrap the story up. That’s why you’re reading it, right? When I read a review, I want it to be short and sweet, but I see others write these long diatribes and I don’t know how they do it. I’m going to try and meet in the middle.

What I like about the writing in the story is that it is faced paced. Lots of up and downs, and there is alway this question lingering that you just can’t figure out. It’s mostly because of lack of information, not because you can’t put two and two together.

I didn’t find myself bored like I sometimes do with other romance books. It fits the formula, but there is something about Julie’s writing that makes it fresh, and I just can’t figure it out. I find myself rating a lot of books 3 stars because while they are okay, they aren’t great, and they aren’t bad. They were just boring.

Mr. Corporate had that give and take with the relationship; which I want to add that Victoria/Tori was my least liked heroine to-date. Ugh. I was so tired of her by the middle of the book that I was wondering what the hell Weston saw in her. She is a real bitch. Her lack of trust in Weston was beyond being independant. It was a whole level of she needs to see a counselor.

Mistress of Romance is a place for all romance lovers to come and explore new reads. Come let me be your book Mistress and check out Mr Corporate

Weston has to be a masochist to be able to take that, and for the length of time that he did. To have to be constantly reassuring someone and arguing about having a little faith in him has to be exhausting. Christ.

“I just need you to now that…I love us. And if you think we even have the slightest chance at making this work, then please, just give in to me. I promise to be careful with you. I promise to go slow. I promise everything. I promise to be patient, and I promise to listen to you. I will do anything-whatever it takes-to make you mine forever.” -Weston

Moving on from the one thing I had to tell you about. We got to see some cameos in this book, either by name or in person. You will have to read to find out. I found that to be uber exciting.

Would I recommend this book to you to read? Absolutely. It’s really a great book.

Well, why the hell did I give it 4.5 stars instead of 5? Because only books that blow my mind, make my heart feel like it is going to burst or makes me think about it for days get a full 5 stars. I just don’t give them out that much. Other reviewers give those reviews 6 stars, but in my world 6 stars don’t exist. 5 do, so I give Mr. Coporate 4.5 stars because it’s that good. A unique story and plot that is fast-paced, a little sexy and a whole lot of lie. A fantastic combination to keep any person reading. A must read!

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover Book Review

It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover Book Review
The newest, highly anticipated novel from beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author, Colleen Hoover.Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most. Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened. With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.
Goodreads

There is so much hype about this release. It’s everywhere I look. I’m not sure if I am let down because so many people say it was amazing and deserves all the stars that when I read it I expect it to be the best book she has ever written. I’m in the minority here by giving the book 3 stars. I love Colleen Hoover. I have read every single book she has written and I know her books are amazing.

I went into this book completely blind. I do this with most of my books that I read, but it should also be noted that Colleen didn’t want people to know much about the plot either. This is the part that I’m really confused about. I don’t understand why the plot is such a big secret. There isn’t a huge shock/twist element that I have come to know and love about Colleen’s writing. The concept for the book was revealed within the first few chapters.

Why do I feel just meh about the book? I feel like it was slow. Colleen’s books are usually fast paced and suspenseful. They have you turning that page as fast as you can, but this book I found myself setting it down to do other things instead of telling everyone to leave me alone so I can finish the book as fast as I possibly can.

I do think that this book will bring a lot of information to readers and help them empathize with situations that they may not have previously understood. My favorite thing about Colleen is how generous she is. She constantly gives back to people and expects absolutely nothing in return. I believe she was a social worker before she started writing full-time. What a great job fit, or maybe not. She is extremely caring, so she wants to help people, but I’m sure it hurt her heart seeing people who need so much help and only being able to do so much about it. While I was reading the book I kept thinking about her in this job and maybe the story had something to do with it. The way that she tells the story and explains the logic through the character’s voice tell of someone who has been in those shoes. It told of experience.

What do I like best and least about the book? I really think the biggest reason for the average rating is that it was too slow for me. The one thing I do like is that it will help people understand and empathize with people in those situations and help them realize not to judge someone so quickly.

I do have some examples of specific things that I don’t like about the book, but they would be considered spoilers. I think that my biggest issue with the book is the pace, and that alone is enough to justify my 3 stars without giving away specific plot lines to someone who still wants to read the book for themselves. If you want to know specifics, feel free to contact me and I will calmly discuss the specific things I didn’t care for in the book.

Everyone connects, or doesn’t, to a book differently. Yes, I didn’t connect with this one, but it will not keep me from reading another book by Colleen. I enjoy her books. She is an author that I automatically buy her books and even pre-order them without knowing anything about them. That is how much I enjoy her books. It just happens that I didn’t connect with, “It Ends With Us,” and that’s okay. You don’t have to love every book.

I have so much to say about this book, but I can’t say much without giving away the plot. This book had me by the grips the whole way through. I’m actually really good at guessing the endings of books, but there was no way with this one. The plot was just too good.

Gardner waits until the very end to tell you who did it. Uhh. I know. But she kept you completely engrossed and turning that page every single second.

Hmm….what else can I say. Read this book. If you have a day or two and want a great book to read, Touch and Go is the book to read. Perfect for the beach or hiding out in your hotel room away from the family.

Book Review — Moonshot by Alessandra Torre

Book Review — Moonshot by Alessandra Torre
Baseball wasn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase … he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil. I tried to stay away. I couldn’t. Then, the team started losing. Women started dying. And everything in my perfect world broke apart.

Review:

Moonshot is told in dual point-of-view, which is my favorite. I love hearing both sides of the story. Dual point-of-view also keeps from having another book told from the other side, which I feel are a bit of a waste. Sorry, had to gush over my love of dual pov.

Moving on. Ty Rollins is the daughter of famed closing pitcher for the New York Yankees. She has been traveling with the team as a bat girl since her Mom died when she was young. The teammates have kept a close eye on her and see her as family.

Ty is in love with all things baseball. She knows all the stats, all the players and even watches ESPN everyday to keep up with it all. I don’t believe anyone knows baseball more than her.

The Yankees are always looking to win The World Series. They will do whatever it takes to clench that title. Ty knew one of the guys had to go and be replaced with the eye catching troublemaker Chase Sterns.

After being bumped from his last team, the clean cut Yankee’s snatch him up. Ty is stoked because she knows this will help them win The World Series. What she doesn’t realize is that her life as she knows it is about to change.

There is instant attraction between the two, but with Ty being only 17, there wasn’t much Chase could do until she became legal. With that in mind, a friendship was born.

As time wore on, their love burned bright and hot like a wildfire. Unfortunately, fate had a way of screwing it.

I found myself flying through the pages. I just couldn’t get enough. I was learning more about baseball than I ever knew before. I grew up with the Chicago Cubs. My husband is the biggest baseball fan I know. I felt like I betrayed him reading about The Yankees when he loathes them more than any sports team out there.

The romance in the book was very well written. AT developed their love in an all-inclusive way that you can’t help but want to devour it. You found yourself grinning. I was reading it while waiting for a prescription at the pharmacy and found myself covering my smile because it was so bright.

My only complaint about the book, and why I gave it 4 stars is because the twist of the story, the murders, just didn’t seem to fit. Let me first say that the murders are not the only twist to the story. There are more.

Back to the murders. It was at least 50% into the book before the murders even started making their way into the story. I found that a little disheartening. Even with the action starting, they still felt forced. In AT’s other books, her twists work seamlessly. You’re like, “Oh, shit!” I honestly feel like the murders could have been left out of the story and Moonshot would have been just as great.

The ending came rushing in like a hurricane. There was no stopping it and you better hold on because it is intense.

I wholeheartedly recommend this book. AT never lets you down and you will definitely enjoy this one. I would compare Moonshot to Hollywood Dirt. It isn’t dark and twisted like her other books. It is a sweet romance, but some real shit happens. If you loved Hollywood Dirt, chances are you will really enjoy Moonshot.
